andthenwhat?

Hey hey hey...

kalle lasn telling his issues. keeping it real... is it some sort of attempted overthrow of habit and natural born right , interesting to see someone from another country give their take on how everything works through the media... the media tells us what to buy where to buy it, we buy it , where was it made?, in china we'll say, it's in the hands of a twelve year old girl put into a box headed for the U.S., the money that worker made contributes to the well being of their family, the manufacturer, the shipping company, the dock workers, the port authority, the freight handlers like the trucking companies, planes and trains, all these and more get in on the traffic of all these goods that americans buy everyday. like why are we still making cars that run solely on fossil fuels, when we know there are energy crisis bubbling over, the environment suffers from this product, our children and their kids will all feel the burn from our actions. i don't know how content i am with my daughter and my nephews and nieces having to shoulder the burden of my misuses.

is it real... the way men view women and the perception of beauty throughout the culture of this country is unique... now with technology and science we are able to mold women into our brand of "perfection", how healthy is that.... my little girl growing up thinking if she doesn't have large enough breasts she should get surgery, if she has a big nose or different looking chin from the women she sees on TV or in magazines she needs surgery to make her pretty... damn that mess..how can we have gotten so far misaligned with what is natural and then use all these false images to sell products... doctors getting rich because of a partnership with an ad agency to only use "perfect" looking women, partnership with pharmaceutical companies to convince people that they suffer from an ailment of some kind... economic imperative... i've got no problem with money,,, it is what it is,,, money is misrepresented as the ultimate empowerer... so all these workers running around making money off people that are just trying to live and survive in a land of bills, bills, bills.... and products of every type that don't last, but that is another one at another time....

I agree with what you're saying as far as the media sculpting our perceptions of ourselves to make us "re-sculpt" our bodies. The media influencing that is wrong--HOWEVER, if it's a decision we make WITHOUT outside influences it's OK. We have the technology! We have the right and the choice (if not the $$$)... I have a transgendered friend--and I don't think s/he was influenced by the media AT ALL. But that's a whole other "ball game"--huh?!

Goddammit, I hate it when I see someone like Trya banks talking about inner beauty when she's parading a bunch of empty minded zombies around on her America's next Top Model show.
